Quote "Took the packages they were waiting for." Obviously they were not waiting and had other things to do that were more important to them. Leaving packages on a porch, especially at Christmas time, is utterly stupid. They get no sympathy from me as there are several options that would have prevented this. I bet the woman leaves her purse in the car too.

I sent boxes via FedEx and USPS and required a signature if someone was home, or pickup at the facility if no one was home because I have had boxes taken before. Also, to the family who had their box taken, if the person who bought the gift cards contacts the locations where they bought them, they can have them deactivated so the thief cannot use them; but they need to have saved their receipt for it to happen.

maliron, it's not an inconvenience if you don't want to be a victim of a theft. I sent 2 boxes back east about 3 weeks ago to a family member, via FedEX. The 2 boxes contained probably $600 worth of presents and gift cards. I requested that if the family member was not home, that he be required to drive a whopping 4 miles to the FedEx facility and pick them up. And that is what he did to safely get both packages. Also, how do you know the person shown on the video trying to open the car door is the same person who took the package off of the porch?

That's all well and good if the sender requires signature. I suppose you could request a signature for all packages with all the carriers, but then why inconvenience yourself for a thief? Then what are we supposed to about our vehicles being broken into? This person has graduated from searching cars in the middle of the night, to stealing Christmas presents from children's doorsteps in the middle of the day. Next stop B&Es... he needs to be stopped, not just avoided.

My guess is it was some cranksters from the cheap motels on Knudsen Dr. who did this. It's real close to the Reese's house. And the way to prevent this is to require the recipient of the package/s to either be home at the time of delivery, and if they aren't, then drive down to FedEx facility and pick them up. It's not rocket science to not become a victim.
