Robin Mangarin came back to Kern County and KGET in 1996 and has never looked back.
She climbed the ranks of television broadcasting with her start at KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, worked seven years as the 5pm and 6pm anchor at KERO-TV before landing the 4pm anchor spot in San Diego (KFMB TV - CBS), a career dream for this San Diego native. But, there's no place like home and that's what she found when she came home to Bakersfield and joined the KGET family.
Robin is an award winning anchor and reporter. Honored with the Edward R. Murrow award for excellence in television broadcasting as well as three Emmys, Associated Press Awards and Golden Globes Awards.
A dedicated journalist, Robin's mission each and every day is to provide viewers with an intelligent caring, comprehensive look at the day's events.
She is probably best known for her commitment to community. Recently honored as the State of California's "Woman of the Year," Robin is an advocate for children. She currently serves as a board member for the Kern County Network For Children, and is active in CASA, the American Cancer Society, the Keep Foundation, C.A.R.E. (Children's Advocacy Resource Endowment) the Boys and Girl's Club of Bakersfield and the American Heart Association.
Robin married her co anchor and life partner Jim Scott back in 1989. They have two children.
Through it all, it is family, friends and faith that are the driving force behind KGET’s 5pm anchor.
