Heather joined the 17 News team in December 2011 as a multimedia journalist. She previously worked as a multimedia journalist for AOL's Patch.com in Culver City, CA covering health and environment.
Heather holds a Master's degree in broadcast journalism from the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California. While at USC, she hosted a news radio show, produced a few short-form documentaries, and served as an anchor and reporter for Annenberg TV News.
She wrote stories for NBCLA.com as an intern at KNBC in Los Angeles.
Heather is an Atlanta native and has traveled around the world since the age of three, to countries such as Holland, China, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Wales and Guam. She got a taste of international reporting while interning for CBS News London.
She served as a video journalist for NBC4 in Columbus, Ohio as an intern. Her job was to cover the Jonas Brothers' first concert in Columbus, where she spent 12 hours following them on a tour the city, while she uploaded the video on the station's Web site.
In the Buckeye State, she received her bachelor's degree in journalism and sociology from The Ohio State University. That's where she got her first start as a journalist, reporting for Buckeye TV News, The Lantern newspaper, and OSUnity Magazine. She was also paid to blog for the University's BuckeyeBlogs site.
She played the alto saxophone in Ohio State’s athletic band and considers herself a "Buck-Trojan." Just don't ask her who she's rooting for when both her teams face off.
