Jim Scott has been broadcasting the news in Kern County since 1983. Born and raised in Casper, Wyoming, Jim's career in broadcasting started in high school, as a graveyard shift deejay for a top-40 AM radio station in his hometown.
Robin Mangarin
Anchor 5pm
Robin Mangarin came back to Kern County and KGET in 1996 and has never looked back. She climbed the ranks of television broadcasting with her start at KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, worked seven years as the 5pm and 6pm anchor at KERO-TV before landing the 4pm anchor spot in San Diego (KFMB TV - CBS), a career dream for this San Diego native.
Todd Strain

Todd Strain has been KGET's Sports Director since June of 2001. A California native, Todd began his sports broadcasting career at KEYT in Santa Barbara, shortly after graduating from U.C.S.B. From there he moved on to KTVL in Medford, Oregon.
Tami Mlcoch
Anchor 6 & 11pm
Tami Mlcoch joined 17 News in April, 2000. After six years of waking up early to deliver the news, she moved to nights to anchor 17 News at 6pm and 11pm.
Alissa Carlson

Chief Meteorologist Alissa Carlson has crossed the country covering all types of weather, and now she's happy to call Bakersfield home. Growing up in Illinois, Alissa spent most of her life watching severe thunderstorms and measuring snow with her dad who loves weather.
Kevin Charette
Morning and Noon Weather Anchor
Kevin Charette joined the 17 weather team in September 2005. Originally from Washington state, he began his broadcasting career as a reporter and weekend weathercaster at the NBC station in Medford, Oregon.
Kiyoshi Tomono
Anchor 17 News at Sunrise
Kiyoshi Tomono joined the 17 News team in March of 2004. He currently anchors 17 News at Sunrise and reports for other newscasts.
Katie Harlan

Katie Harlan joined the 17 News team in March of 2006 as a general assignment reporter and was quickly promoted to anchor 17 News at Sunrise and 17 News at Noon.
Sherry Hatamiya
Reporter
Sherry Hatamiya joined the 17 news team as a general assignment reporter in May 2007. She previously worked as a morning Anchor/Reporter at KNAZ in Flagstaff.
Jennifer Musa

Jennifer Musa joined KGET in October 2006, after falling in love with Kern County. Jennifer is passionate about reporting because she enjoys meeting new people everyday.
Melissa Knievel
Reporter
Melissa started with KGET in Dec. 2006 after spending a year as an anchor/reporter with Orange County cable news - Channel 3. Before moving to California, Melissa hosted a local News Magazine show in Colorado near her hometown.
Paul Ramirez
Reporter
Paul is a native New Yorker, who eventually settled in Los Angeles, before arriving at KGET and Kern County in December 2006. He began broadcasting after his training at the Defense Information School at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana.
