The fight for birth control

You know this is really hypocritical, all those "Catholic Church workers are paying taxes which pay for clinics and social services. They are paying for birth control and they are paying for lack of it. Wish that those of us who are not Catholic and are mere tax payers had a voice to push for where our money is spent. After all some us would require birth control as a condition to receiving on going social services. After once it is not an accident or mistake it is a pattern for a way of life.

There is no First Amendment issue here. This is labor law, plain and simple. Universities, hospitals, health clubs, or any other business belonging to the Roman Catholic church must abide by the law. And the law states, very clearly, that health insurance offered to employees must include contraceptive services, without co-pays. The law doesn't force Catholics Read More... to purchase or use contraceptives----although 98% of American Catholic women do so, in direct contravention of Church doctrine-----but it does prevent Catholics from forcing their narrow and prejudiced doctrine on those of other faiths who happen to work at businesses belonging to the church. The largest Catholic university in the nation---DePaul---already offers such coverage, without incident or complaint, in its health care coverage for employees. 28 states already have the same provision in their laws. 8 states don't even exempt churches as the federal rule does. This is being blown out of all proportion by the news talk radio (hate radio), the churchs, and the intellectually dishonest Republicans in Congress.

Single immigrant mother turned away at toy drive

We have a problem with euphemisms here. "Single mother" is used to imply we should feel sympathy and give charity. This kind of sympathy used to be for widows and orphans, not women who just get knocked up by some dude. That is called being an "unwed mother". While there is sympathy for the hardship she her children are in, she chose to breed and it is not society's job to provide for them. Then there is the second descriptive- "immigrant". She is not an immigrant, she is an illegal alien, a scofflaw who seems to think she and her offspring have some sort of entitlement because she was able to sneak in and hatch her eggs here. We have stopped calling things by their real names because it hurts peoples feelings, and now we are afraid to offend anyone and of being accused of being judgmental.

You don't have to be a picky eater to not want to eat unripened fruit and overcooked veggies. Have you personaly seen or tasted what is offered?
